Lavender Farm Field Trip Photos

Eight of us drug ourselves out of bed at an unholy hour to bask in the sunshine of dawn at the Norwood Lavender Farm.

Unfortunately, the sun didn’t hit the small lavender farm until an hour or more after we arrived, but a few good photos came out of it nonetheless.

Canoe and Kayak Museum Field Trip Photos

First we visited Alphonse Goettler at his Photo to Canvas workshop and then we walked half a block to the Canoe and Kayak Museum which Harvey Golden  graciously agreed to open for us. Harvey is world famous in his field so if you have questions about ocean going vessels like these he is the man to ask. Harvey has hand built and also paddled many of these replicas worldwide.

Lewis & Clark Field Trip Photos

On May 21st, we visited Lewis & Clark College on Portland’s west side.  We had decent weather, with soft overcast lighting, which made for low-contrast and soft shadows.

Urban Landscape Field Trip Photos

On Saturday a group of PPS photographers went out and walked around the North Portland area in the late afternoon, looking for urban landscapes.  We later got together for a beer at Widmer Brothers.  Below are a few photos from some of the attendees.

Tilikum Crossing Field Trip Photos

On Friday night a group of PPS photographers went out and walked around the Tilikum Crossing bridge area at sunset to take photos and enjoy the nice weather.  Below are a few photos from some of the attendees.

Oaks Bottom Forge Field Trip Photos

In March, on two separate days, we had PPS members visit Oaks Bottom Forge in Southeast Portland.  It is a co-op forge where about 15 blacksmiths make a variety of knives and tools.  They also teach classes to help people get started smithing and leathercrafting.  They also sell their knives and other products.  Everyone we met was excellent and we had a great time – we highly recommend checking out Oaks Bottom Forge.  Their website is: http://www.oaksbottomforge.com

Special thanks goes out to the blacksmiths, who were more than accommodating working with photographers hovering around.  It was really fun!

Crystal Springs Field Trip Photos

Seven of us early birds enjoyed a beautiful morning at the gardens on Saturday. It was very peaceful AND noisy! Lots of birds…ducks, geese, herons and more. The blush of almost spring was in evidence everywhere.  Here are a few photos from some of the attendees.
